Here comes a very special cheese! Ballyoaks Irish Brie is a smooth, buttery semi-soft cheese with a smoky oaky tang. The first smoked brie in Europe, it was created in the Five Mile Town Creamery in the Clogher Valley, Northern Ireland. To date it’s collected 12 awards, included Gold at the World Cheese Awards.
This deliciously different cheese is matured for six months then gently smoked over local oak from Caledon Forest. If you’ve yet to try it be warned – Ballyoaks Irish Brie is dangerously moreish and will disappear faster than a snowball in summer. Every mouthful is a creamy, smoky delight that makes strong men (and women) go weak at the knees. This cheese should be on everyone’s ‘must try’ list.
What with? A guarantueed success on the cheeseboard, Ballyoaks Irish Brie and our much loved Fig ball are an irrisistible combination. It’s not a a cheese you would or should cook with, but should you ever try it heated with a slice of baked fig ball or a splodge of fruity chutney on toast, the word ‘divine’ will definitely come to mind. Likes red wine for company.
